Assisting Bishop, Bishop Bill Franklin was recently elected as Chair of the General Board of Examining Chaplains of The Episcopal Church.
The board prepares the questions and evaluations of the General Ordination Examination, which all ordinands must pass before being ordained to the priesthood. The questions and evaluations cover six canonical areas: scripture, theology, liturgy, church history, ethics, and the practice of ministry.
Bishop Franklin says, "It is indeed a great honor to be elected to this position which through the supervision of and preparation for the General Ordination Examination each year assures the academic standards of ordained ministry in The Episcopal Church.”
In addition to serving the Diocese of Long Island, Bishop Franklin is Professor of Anglican Studies at Union Theological Seminary.
