On October 28th 2023, Bishop Lawrence Provenzano and the Camp DeWolfe Board of Managers and staff welcomed over 100 camp friends, alumni, supporters, and families to Wading River for the Annual Benefit Luncheon. Guests represented more than 21 parishes and ministries from across Brooklyn, Queens, Nassau, and Suffolk counties.
Camp families and friends enjoyed a beautiful fall 75 degree sunny day at Camp DeWolfe, in fellowship and community, sharing stories and memories, over a buffet luncheon. Highlights included Program Coordinator, Nick Haselton, sharing about some of the campers’ experiences, including on the Adventure Challenge course. He spoke about how everyone who participates in a program or camp or retreat at Camp DeWolfe is changed and developed as a leader, no matter what generation or season. A camp fire with s’mores, popcorn, and kids crafts, and games were part of the fall festivities outdoors, in God’s natural woodland setting, on the north shore of Long Island.
Over $18,000 was raised for the camp ministry at the Benefit Luncheon, from donations, a silent auction, and ticket sales. Generous sponsors included Episcopal Ministries for the luncheon and Sound Gardens for the fall decorations. Additional donations for the silent auction included from the Gilbert Family, the Mayers Family, La Bistro Pizzeria, the Cannon Family, the Tietjen Family, La Plage Restaurant, the Previl Family, North Tavern Restaurant, Pazzo Pizzeria, and St. Mark’s Episcopal Church Islip.
