The Rev. Hickman Alexandre of St. James in Brookhaven is the leader of the Long Island Deputation to the 81st General Convention of the Episcopal Church and is also serving as Vice-Chair of the committee on the Confirmation of the Election of the Presiding Bishop. Father Hickman requests your continued prayers as the House of Bishops selects the next Presiding Bishop, Wednesday morning.

Father Hickman shares his experience at the 81st General Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. His daily routine includes early morning committee meetings, worship, and legislative sessions, all contributing to a busy yet fulfilling schedule. He emphasizes the importance of in-person engagement and the opportunity to connect with others, which was missed due to precautions against COVID-19 at the 80th General Convention in Baltimore.

Father Hickman expressed his gratitude for the great dedication and diligence of the Long Island Delegation in representing our diocese.

He also notes the exciting events at the convention, including the inspiring Love. Always. Revival led by Presiding Bishop Michael Curry and the discussions on the future direction of the church.

Please continue to keep our deputies in your prayers as they work towards a collaborative and hopeful future for the church.
