Bishop Provenzano and members of the diocesan staff hosted a seminar designed to empower parish leadership, Saturday February 8th in the Cathedral of the Incarnation.

Participants explored core leadership responsibilities that guide healthy parishes by examining diocesan policies, canons, and New York state laws as they pertain to parish life. In addition, the seminar covered essential aspects of parish finance and discussed critical areas related to human resources and property management.

Episcopal Ministries of Long Island's Mary Beth Welsh, Executive Director, and Sandra Senior, Director of Programs, spoke about how EMLI resources, nurtures, and amplifies a diocesan-wide network of ministries bringing our faith beyond the walls of our churches and into the public square.

Stephen Najarro, Senior Accountant, reviewed key information regarding audit and parochial reports, balance sheets, and statements of activities and income. 


Stewardship

Neil Watkins, Director of Emerging Opportunities for Carter, gave a presentation on effective stewardship, moving parishes beyond a sense of obligation to a culture of generosity that supports sustainable ministry and growth.

Leadership Responsibilities, Diocesan Policies, Canons & NY State Law

Bishop Provenzano and James Weller, Esq., Chancellor of the Diocese of Long Island, reviewed key Leadership Responsibilities, Diocesan Policies, Canons, and New York State Law. This included: the Canons of the Diocese, Safe Church Guidelines, and NYS Religious Incorporation Laws as they apply to the Diocese of Long Island.
